Babies, Babies Everywhere

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Several of my good friends at work are having babies!  Here are two little critters I knit up to help welcome home their new bundles.  First up, meet Jarvis the Jellyfish (Rav pattern link), knit with love for Baby Lucca.

Lucca’s mom has been asking me for a jellyfish since she saw rhymeswithfun’s Julius back in the day.  Jarvis now hang’s out over Lucca’s changing table and is sure to make diaper changes much more fun!  (Well, at least for Lucca anyway…)

Baby Quiba will be welcomed home by Herbert once he arrives mid-June.

Herbert was knit from the free Ribbit pattern with no real mods except that I only used fiberfill instead of the recommended tennis ball for stuffing.  Can’t wait to meet you next month, Kai!!

Quick Catch Up

Despite the hours taken out of my evenings lately due to traffic delays (first the RNC, now downtown construction and bus detours), I have still tried to keep the creative spirit alive. Here are a few of my latest…

I finally finished up my second jellyfish, who left yesterday for his new home at my friend Angie’s house. She was a little down, and what better pick-me-up than a knit jellyfish?

Every morning for as long as I can remember I’ve wished for a way to easily see all my earrings at once. Digging gets so tiresome! Enter this post over at I bought a $10 frame at JoAnn’s and dug out an old pair of fishnets. I added the stash ribbon at the top and bottom for studs & posts, and plan to add some black hooks along the bottom for bracelets, watches, and necklaces. Perfection! Now to figure out where to hang it…

Julius the Jellyfish

Julius is one of my latest knitting ventures who turned out quite fabulously, if I do say so myself.

He was knit from a Hansigurumi pattern that I purchased from Etsy. He now lives in my friend Vân’s cube at work, who was also nice enough to give him his super cool name.

Definitely one of the most fun knitting projects I’ve done to date – and one of my favorites!
