Long Overdue
These last few months have just FLOWN by and I am so behind on so many posts. So without further ado, here are some long overdue photos of the awesome weekend workshop I took at the Textile Center back in March, entitled Artful Knit: A Sculptural Approach to Knitting taught by Adrienne Sloane.
Babies, Babies Everywhere
Several of my good friends at work are having babies! Here are two little critters I knit up to help welcome home their new bundles. First up, meet Jarvis the Jellyfish (Rav pattern link), knit with love for Baby Lucca.
Lucca’s mom has been asking me for a jellyfish since she saw rhymeswithfun’s Julius back in the day. Jarvis now hang’s out over Lucca’s changing table and is sure to make diaper changes much more fun! (Well, at least for Lucca anyway…)
Baby Quiba will be welcomed home by Herbert once he arrives mid-June.
Herbert was knit from the free Ribbit pattern with no real mods except that I only used fiberfill instead of the recommended tennis ball for stuffing. Can’t wait to meet you next month, Kai!!
Gold!!
Sunday afternoon, a few hours before the closing ceremonies, I finished my Skewed Socks earning a Gold medal in the 2010 Knitting Olympics!
Vivienne’s Hat
This cute little hat (Rav link) was knit for Vivienne, whose parents Lisa & Brian will get to meet in just three short weeks!
It was an easy, fairly quick knit. The only mods I made were to add a few more flowers on top and only use five leaves instead of six.
The only downside of this uber cute pattern? Weaving in all the ends…
h o o t
I know I haven’t posted about my China socks yet or the cute hat I knit over the last Wedding Weekend Whirlwind trip two weeks ago, but I don’t have pictures of those yet and I am just LOVING how my owls sweater turned out so much that I had to share!

This sweater was designed to be very close fitting, but I purposely fiddled with my gauge and incs/decs to make it a more roomy pullover but still have some shaping. (Yes, Celeste is still a total camera hog.)

I lucked out by finding the perfect color buttons, but it wasn’t until I sat down to sew them on (all 32!!) that I discovered I liked the backs even more than the fronts. The backs are a bit more subtle, but still catch the light.

Hooray for owls!!

Introducing Vivian…
I was finally home during daylight hours today to have The Canadian snap some photos of my finished Vivian…

Sleeves & Scissors
Well, I finally found the missing skein of yarn.

Holy long arms, Batman! Apparently I did one too many pattern repeats on each sleeve. At least I’m consistent, right?
Well, never fear, the lovely Ms GFunk came to the rescue over some delicious coffee and fresh squeezed lemonade at Birchwood Cafe. We devised a most excellent plan for recovery. There was just one little thing to overcome.
Using scissors. On my knitting. Oh crap.
