Well, I finally found the missing skein of yarn.

Holy long arms, Batman! Apparently I did one too many pattern repeats on each sleeve. At least I’m consistent, right?
Well, never fear, the lovely Ms GFunk came to the rescue over some delicious coffee and fresh squeezed lemonade at Birchwood Cafe. We devised a most excellent plan for recovery. There was just one little thing to overcome.
Using scissors. On my knitting. Oh crap.

I finished my Monkey Socks a few weeks back and finally got around to blocking them.

They fit wonderfully and will be great to wear once the weather cools off a bit.
(I’ll keep my MN summer for now, thanks!)
Well, I have ten rows left on the hood of my Vivian sweater.

And I’m out of yarn.

The Madre and I flew in to Portland Tuesday night from SF so we could spend all day Wednesday before Sock Summit exploring. What a great city! We hit Voodoo Donuts (of course), Chinatown, Washington Park, Portland’s Rose Garden and had a FABULOUS dinner. Check it out! (Warning: excessive number of rose photos included)
Then…oh then…was Sock Summit.

How do you describe such an awesome experience? I’m still not sure I can. I made great new friends, learned so much, met amazing people and to top it all off, I got to share it all with The Madre. Here are a few of my favorite pics.
I’m sure you’ve noticed that I have no pictures of the Marketplace or of any purchases. Well, that would be because (1) I was too busy buying things to take any pictures of the awesome Marketplace and (2) I bought so much stuff that I had to have it shipped all home and it should be here on Monday. Stay tuned…

…is that it sometimes makes you drop down 57 rows to fix one little twisted cable that no one but you would ever really notice anyway but you know if you didn’t it would drive you crazy forever and ever so you spend two hours of your Friday night listening to your husband tell you you’re crazy for even attempting to fix it but feeling really damn good about yourself when you finally set everything right.
…is that you need two (that hopefully match).

Most of my evenings of late have been spent working on my newest knitting love…Vivian by Ysolda Teague.

I’ve made it up to row 102 on the body and think it’s coming along splendidly.

Only 15 more rows until I can start on the sleeves!

What do you think my chances are for having this finished in time to wear to the Sock Summit in August? Yeah, um, I gotta get back to the knitting…
Here’s my new bus knitting…Monkey by Cookie A.

Yes, I just bought her book. No, I have no idea why I didn’t pick one of those socks to knit first.
Frances is also slightly perplexed.

Or maybe they both are just obsessed with the wrist strap on my camera.

It was rhymeswithfun’s birthday last week and something sweet was needed for the celebration!
i like lemon‘s scooped pattern seemed perfect. The first cone I knit according to the pattern turned out bigger than I expected, though, so I halved the pattern and tried again. Much better!

I opted for a double scoop – one each of chocolate and strawberry…

..and sprinkles to seal the deal.

Happy (belated) birthday, my friend!!
I’ve had this urge to knit something with Misti Alpaca’s Hand Paint Chunky since I stumbled upon it’s colorful yumminess a few months back at LYS. I finally gave in last night and of course had to knit up a few swatches to test it out.

I love this yarn already. It’s so soft and fun to knit. And because I can never leave well enough alone, I decided to knit it double stranded to make it even more squishy wonderful.

I have this idea in my head of recreating one of my favorite “hand-knit” store bought sweaters that I’ve worn to excessive pilling. An ambitious dream, for sure, but one I may have to tackle. Once I save up enough to buy another 8 skeins, that is.

In the meantime, I’ll do some more swatching, start sketching out my design, and continue to fend off alpaca-loving kitties from my precious yarn.

I told her that’s what she’d get if she kept chewing on my swatch, but did she listen? Of course not.
