Introducing rhymeswithfun‘s loooong over due 2009 Christmas present….Herb!

Herb, named by ms rhymeswithfun herself, was knit from the Octopus pattern out of Hansi Singh’s amazing book Amigurumi Knits: Patterns for 20 Cute Mini Knits. Look at those cute curly tentacles!

First Julius and now Herb. What shall I knit for my favorite foodie next?
While I’m still working on some Top Secret Christmas knitting (don’t judge me), I realized there are a few unclassified projects I’ve been working on these last few months that I haven’t posted about yet.

It was rhymeswithfun’s birthday last week and something sweet was needed for the celebration!
i like lemon‘s scooped pattern seemed perfect. The first cone I knit according to the pattern turned out bigger than I expected, though, so I halved the pattern and tried again. Much better!

I opted for a double scoop – one each of chocolate and strawberry…

..and sprinkles to seal the deal.

Happy (belated) birthday, my friend!!
Things have gotten a little crazy around here lately and I’ve been slacking on keeping up with my posts. I had to take a step back today, though, and show you what an awesome week I had last week – two cool presents in one week!!
First up is an amazing Christmas present from my good friend Beckie. Check out this awesome purple capelet!

And it’s reversible!

Celeste approves as well. (Note: this was taking approximately .2 seconds after I opened the package.)

And rhymeswithfun‘s Ginger Kitty finally came home!

A cute kitty surrounded by yarn – totally meant for me!

Obviously, also a big hit with Celeste.

Thanks for adding to my great week, ladies!!
Tonight was the second night of our Fair Isle class, so rhymeswithfun and I stopped at POP! for some delicious eats before heading back down the street to Crafty Planet.

Delicious Chicken Satay Salad anyone? Or perhaps some yummy Pasta B?

My hat is coming along well, although I really hope Gretchen (our awesome teacher) is right about it settling down some once I block it. I was a bit tight with my stitches in the beginning, but I think I’ve finally got the tension thing a little more under control. About time, I say. Look at those ripples!

I have a about 8 rows left before I block it and then I’m done!!
Rhymeswithfun and I had a great night last night. We started off our evening with a delicious dinner at Snap! They have the cutest lights and quite tasty pizza.

Afterward, we headed up the street to Crafty Planet for our first night of Fair Isle class. We had the choice of leg warmers or a hat. Both of us decided to go the hat route and to design our own patterns. Here’s what I have so far:

I’m really glad I forced myself to learn how to knit continental last year since that makes knitting with yarn in both hands sooo much easier. Now to just get that whole “tension” thing under control…
Tonight I had a great dinner with my good friend rhymeswithfun for our belated Christmas gift exchange. I will have to post tomorrow about the top secret project I’ve spent the last few weeks working on for her, but I just had to post tonight about the ADORABLE owls she made for me. I absolutely love them. Check out the little guy’s hair!!
